@Ghostsheetz those that defend AI in vim are saying that it's just plugins, and if you don't want them then fine use them.

Those that are upset about AI in vim are upset because the vim maintainer is using LLMs to write vim updates. They (well, we, because I count myself amongst them) were already aware of the plugins and don't care about that. In fact, to us the only controversy about the plugins is that the AI proponents ate using them as a strawman argument to say that AI for vim development is not bad.
