This is why I don't like window seats at restaurants without bollards.

Cars vs. buildings, not uncommon.
@ai6yr 😱 Not to mention just standing on the sidewalk.
@ai6yr TIL what those metal things are called. Thank you.

@ai6yr Team #bollards here. I am acutely aware of where I sit when there’s a parking lot next to us. It’s absolutely bonkers how many stores are designed to put customers and workers entirely at the mercy of the driving skills of literally anyone in the parking lot.

I will strategically sit behind pillars and large planters if there aren’t bollards.

@ai6yr And that's why, despite being a diehard aviation nerd, I don't want flying cars. Can't have bollards for the second, third, so on floors.
@aaron @ai6yr they're called walnut trees
@autolycos I suppose so but the installation time is usually measured in decades.

@ai6yr
@aaron @ai6yr lag/log growth is common in living systems

@ai6yr Great working in an criminally underutilized word: Bollards

Used in a sentence with the OTHER word I have vowed to use more:

"AI6YR Ben made it a habit in the 20th and 21st century to only dine in window seats at establishments whose front of house was festooned with bollards"

@cvvhrn @ai6yr A friend of mine who turned a little too tightly in a parking ramp said that he had "joined the bollard appreciation society" 🤣
@ai6yr
No one asked for this Kamikaze Roll!
@ai6yr dont even talk to me about the tradition of crashing into CVS and other retail pharmacies (which seldom have bollards or anything of the sort)!!!
