I think it may be part of the reason for Trump, but Iran’s oil reserves and military control over the straight of Hormuz is probably an even bigger reason. US clearly wants to control as much of oil supply as it can to keep the dominance it has over the rest of the world.

The scale of destruction in Gaza is incomprehensible to me. Like, I see the picture, I know it’s awful, I feel for those affected, but there’s some kind of disconnect.

It’s the same feeling when I look at images of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Just all emotion is preempted by a numbness, an inability to process. It’s difficult for me to explain, actually. It’s a picture of gray rubble that used to be people and their homes and workplaces and gathering places, but the picture is totally depersonalized. Actually, maybe that’s the point.
