Call me crazy, but I'm going to look at this tomorrow. #CraigsList #boating
OK, so I get to the guy's place, which is in a five year-old housing development with mostly immaculate yards. His driveway is stuffed with vehicles and he's even got one sticking out into the road. The jet ski is parked on the road in front of his house. And on his lawn are two flags: a Trump flag flying above an American flag. I'm already nauseated. He is "that guy," the one no one wants in their neighborhood. (1/4)
The jet ski trailer looks good. We remove the nicely fitting cover, which is in good condition, and the jet ski looks pretty good too. We open the engine compartment and it's clean and dry. He's able to get it started pretty quickly. It has a variety of dings in the fiberglass that should be expected with a nearly 20-year-old boat. (2/4)
Then I get on my hands and knees and look under it. The intake shows signs of scraping; I have to wonder if this thing sucked sand. And the bottom has a lot of damage to the outer fiberglass that shows it's been on rocky beaches, etc. None of it is much more than cosmetic, but do I want to deal with it? (3/4)
I decide that I do – I really wanted a jet ski last year and could not find one – and he goes in to get the paperwork. While he's in there I look at that fucking Trump sign and the way it's hanging above the American flag. This asshole voted for Trump and I'm about to give him $2200 of my money. When he came out, I told him I changed my mind and left without the jet ski. #FuckTrump (4/4)
