@weit_im_westen That looks highly photoshopped. It would be very unusual to see vegetation as lush as this on the Outer Hebrides.

@bodhipaksa
Sorry, looks more like a malicious insinuation.
No photoshopped or AI images here. 🤷

I have nothing to hide.

Any #scottish people here who know this place?

@bodhipaksa
Ah:

Here it is:
https://osmand.net/map?pin=57.60583%2C-7.51829#19/57.60583/-7.51829 (few meters away, I think it was a GPS location Update issue)

@weit_im_westen @bodhipaksa

I don't know the place well, but I've seen several pictures of the building, and have been past it on the road, in very different weather. The building is fairly typical of 1920s to 1950s Uists and Skye apart from the quoin effect. (Windows further North were done differently.) The vegetation is fairly normal for machair land in Summer not subject to heavy grazing. A quick image search for 'machair' should produce hundreds of scenes of flowery abundance.

@weit_im_westen @bodhipaksa

Machair is of course completely different to moorland or exposed mountainsides, which is most of the rest of the Islands.

It's not my issue if some scots imagine other kinds of landscapes of outer hebrides than they really are ... 😅😜
@weit_im_westen @electropict LOL. Yes, you're not responsible for my imagination at all, although I have spent a couple of summers on N. Uist as well as one very dark and windswept winter, so I have some familiarity with the landscape that isn't imaginary.
@bodhipaksa @electropict
It sounds like you are not convinced. What kind of transparency can I show now, after all?
@weit_im_westen @electropict Sorry for giving you that impression. I'm happy to accept that this is your photograph and that it's not photoshopped. I was just saying that my experience of the Outer Hebrides is not based on imagination.
@bodhipaksa @electropict
It's possible that 2023 was an extraordinary year in "full bloom". By the way locals told me the "flowers" would be toxic, it's just weed. Have a nice evening.
@weit_im_westen @bodhipaksa @electropict primroses bloom on the machair in spring. By summer they’re all gone.
Here’s a photo from the north end of Barra
@weit_im_westen @bodhipaksa @electropict And here’s one of my own from June a few years ago at Tangusdale.
@weit_im_westen @bodhipaksa @electropict this kind of display is not at all exceptional; it happens every year but you have to come early to catch it.
@electropict @weit_im_westen Apologies for causing offense. I've spent several summer weeks on North Uist in different years and have never seen vegetation as lush as that there. But perhaps other years, with different weather patterns, the ragwort grows more profusely than when I've visited.
