I went to the Carolina Guitar Show this weekend in Asheville. I've never been around so many interesting guitars in one place.

There's $150k worth of guitars on this one table! 🤯

I was really curious to see those older guitars. I like the history, but I don't think I'd actually want one. I ended up liking the newer guitars better.

I did like this older LP.

There were a bunch of people just focused on dealing and trading, but it was so nice to be around so many musicians as well. I got to try a few different styles of guitar, and have some questions answered by people who know everything there is to know about guitars.

I'm looking forward to going back next year when I can play a bit better, and enjoy trying a wider range of guitars.

@ehmatthes I used to play classical guitar when I was a kid. Never got used to acoustic guitar due to steel strings. Now in my 30s, I want to pick up an electric guitar, so I can play in the evening without disturbing my family.

@ewon_c The cheapest entry-level guitars have a lot of issues, as they always have. But just above that level are a whole bunch of really well-made guitars that are so much nicer to play than they used to be at that price point.

The only thing I'd recommend is trying a few amps in person if you're comfortable doing so. I got a digital modeling amp, which is okay because you can get a lot of different sounds. But I wish I got one with more knobs and fewer menu dives.

@ehmatthes For the electric guitar, I plan to only use an audio interface and DAW software on the computer, and a pair of Sennheiser headphones. I'm a total noob when it comes to electric instruments. My budget is about $1000 CAD for the guitar itself. Maybe one day I will pick up some amps and speakers second hand
@ewon_c That should get you a really nice guitar! Do you know what style you're looking for?
