I swear to god the #Linux #gaming challenge on #LTT, with Linus specifically, will always be cursed lololol. Linus picking #popOS (on ideal #AMD hardware) and experiencing so many issues I have never, ever seen or experienced on something like #EndeavourOS for yeaaaars now without any special configuration or wtv (on #NVIDIA even) genuinely reinforces my opinion (backed by experience) that #ArchLinux based distros (minus vanilla Arch or #Manjaro) is always somehow the better, more user-friendly experience for #Windows users or gamers in general. Seriously. #Ubuntu (perhaps even #Debian) based distros just ain't it, most of the time (for these users). There's a reason the most popular gaming distros rn are both based on Arch, #Valve 's #SteamOS and the 'hot' distro atm, #CachyOS.
@irfan Exactly. For gaming there is currently nothing better than arch based distros because arch has the most updated packages. Gaming on Linux in its current state is relatively new and there is still a lot of development and bug fixes going on.
@Madic @irfan hi i am not a gamer so a stupid question🙃 heard about #steamOS was based on arch, can we install steamOS easily on a pc and play free games ?
@greenman @Madic im not sure what u mean by free games exactly, but as far as I'm aware - while u may have success installing steamOS on a generic PC, Valve hasn't really officially encouraged/endorsed doing so - their focus is still their own hardware, and a small selection of third-party handheld(s). Your best bet for a steamOS-like experience atm, with a PC, is to install n use Bazzite.
