Department of What?
Department of What?
I don’t know if this makes it better or worse but it never stopped being the “Department of Defense.”
The “Department Of War” is essentially stylistic preference in the executive branch. The “Defense” name is still the statutory one.
EDIT: See below; this is invalid.
I’ll add that I – giving Mike Johnson the least benefit of the doubt I could – tried pretty hard to find any instance of him referring to the DoD as the “Department of War” following Trump’s executive order; I could not.
He corrected himself a few days ago in a back and forth anout iran after he called if department of defense and called it the department of war.
Seema like hes just generally fucked up on on the “gop approved” name.
Oh shit, that’s why I didn’t find it. Here’s the C-SPAN clip. He says “Department of Defense” and then immediately corrects himself to “Department of War”. Jesus christ, Mikey, I really tried.
(This was somewhat difficult to find even with the quote; please link a source if you use one in the future instead of just quoting.)
