It’s called “alt text” because slowing down to write it alters your perception of your photos, how they are seen, and your relationship to broader Fediverse. Start writing alt text and your very reality will be altered.

Welcome… to Fedi Vale.
@maxleibman The number of people who don't add Alt-text is really sad. Or, worse, the people who add one word so their picture doesn't get filtered. They are beyond annoying

Seconded. I hate the lazy twunts who just say the animal or repeat the title of the artwork without describing it. Don't care if it's a not, it's still operated by a human.

@maxleibman

and how about we never reply to someone telling them to add alt text. just boost posts like this and hope the non alt text people see them.

@maxleibman honestly this has been my experience since I committed to writing good alt text years ago when I was still on Twitter. It makes me really think about *why* I'm posting an image. What am I trying to convey? I take longer to post images, which sometimes means I decide not to post something because it wasn't actually that compelling.
@maxleibman
Love the way you’ve articulated the concept & it is all true, for me at least. 🙏🏻

@maxleibman

Yes, writing alt-text is good practice writing.
