After testing my companion devices for a week, I decided to extend coverage by adding a repeater, which now contributes to my neighbourhood. The improvement is noticeable and exciting, I can now send and receive messages from hundreds of kilometres away! #meshcore

@TimmyMac @guelsoylu I would buy two. One to pair to your phone (as a client) and one to stick as high up as you can to act as a repeater.

But that then is all that's involed.

But if you're sure you have other repeaters local, one device will do it.

@TimmyMac @tinmouth Mine is a balcony setup for now. Even if one side is facing multiple layers of concrete walls, it increased the overall coverage. So an attic window would do, I guess.

@guelsoylu @TimmyMac @tinmouth Hi, my repeater is in the loft and I really need to check/tune the antenna as coverage is poorer than I’d hoped. High, outside in the clear is best.

@TimmyMac @guelsoylu @tinmouth Sorry (not sorry)! With a decent antenna eg Paradar whip, I can connect two nodes across my village, one with Heltec V3, the other with Heltec T114. I’m in a village without other mesh users; I see more traffic in cities. We’ll need a repeater in every village :)

@TimmyMac @guelsoylu Depends on your location and existing community. In my area (Black Forest, Germany) you can basically communicate with half of Europe.
