Any #vintageAudio nerds in the federation?

I've recently bought an old "Beocord 2000 Deluxe" (what a name, huh?) reel-to-reel taperecorder in the hope It'll be able to play the tape we found in my in-law's attic. The machine the tape was found in was very broken, but the tape looks OK.

I don't know almost anything about reel-to-reel machines, though, so any pointers to do's and/or DONT's are much appreciated.

Or maybe just to some resources on the topic?

@fritjof I've managed to steer clear of tape recorders (reel or cassette) since I started fiddling with vintage stereo equipment this last year. But I'd have a look at the Audio Karma forums for advice.

@fritjof I've gotten loads of valuable amplifier and turntable advice on AK, so I'm sure the tape forum is as helpful 🙂
