it may have something to do with tens of billions of pounds in subsidies the UK government gives the fossil fuel industry

some of which goes straight back to those politicians in bribes of course

if they put that money into green tech we could have hit net zero by now

@normjess @davidho oh certainly, but also you only have to go back 3yrs to find a higher price and a 50% higher price in 2011.
@davidho ICE vehicles are not necessary. EVs and other alternatives are so much better on so many levels.
@davidho I'm also surprised by the people who think the price of oil will have a great impact on politics. Not like the larger spike after Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022 did anything.
@davidho Any price at the pump of < $30 a gallon isn't coming close to pricing in the negative externalities of oil.
@davidho and the more real insanity is: we have the technology to get off fossils. But we fight over money and “freedom”.
