"In a move to secure 'the integrity of the global town square', the social media platform X last Friday began posting user location data. As a result, it emerged that dozens of influential Maga accounts are run out of foreign countries, including Russia, India and Nigeria."

Client Challenge

This is horrifying on at least 2 levels. If the Xitter data can be trusted, the international psyops it reveals is pretty teeth-gritting. But I'm not sure it can, given that it's probably generated using a Trained #MOLE, in an attempt to correct for the use of VPNs, etc, to spoof location. I'll never forget the story about the elderly couple who get visits from the feds because their home is closest to a point in the centre of the US, commonly given by geolocation services.

Even if the location data is reliable, I'm not sure I'm comfortable with Xitter doxxing people using their own service like this. If I hadn't already tombstoned by my Titter account when Melon Husk bought it and cut off API access, breaking the crossposter I was using to echo my posts here, this would probably push me to do it.
