American media is now so captured that it seems the only way the American people know anything is going wrong in the world is if they see the gas* prices rise.

*Petrol. They're talking about petrol.

In America, Trump supporters are describing the rise in gas (petrol. It's petrol) prices as "the final betrayal".

Which implies they were all pretty happy about ALL THE OTHER BETRAYALS.

I can't help thinking that if somehow the Iran war had made fuel prices go down Trumps approval ratings would be through the roof by now...
@ProjectFearlessness not convinced the wording "final betrayal" implies what you say it does about MAGAs as it does imply there were previous betrayals that didn't "break the camel's back".
But I suspect you are right about many of the MAGA crowd only starting to get really worried when it finally hits their pockets hard.
Maybe they simply misspoke.
@marjolica
Yes, but I'm not about to get hung up about the wording of what any Trump supporters say. When words and their meanings line up in Maga world, it's just a coincidence.

@ptoothfish @ProjectFearlessness @marjolica

bah they can probably sell their kids for one year's worth of gas.

a modernized 'Modest Proposal'.

@ProjectFearlessness Well, no, not really. Without all the green betrayals, had the USA reached net zero by now they wouldn't give a toss about petrol prices.
@TimWardCam
I see your point, but a Trump presidency wouldn't be a Trump presidency without all the green betrayals. It's one thing they definitely voted for.

@ProjectFearlessness

I honestly don’t know the level of outrage has been substantial for some time. That budget they pass that cut everybody’s medical coverage such as it is in the US the trade war and everything else it stands and direct contradiction to everything he said he was gonna do.

But what a bunch of idiots he’s always done things completely at odds to what he promises

@GhostOnTheHalfShell
Well, yes, the higher fuel prices seem more like the final straw. But what a weird straw for it to be the final one, after everything else we've seen Trump do.

@ProjectFearlessness

Yup.

Extrajudicial killings? A requirement to make the country great.

High gas prices? High treason.

@JackMexa4
Can't help thinking if the gas prices had gone down after Trump bombed Iran they'd be making him the forever president by now.
