I’ve got a static version of my personal blog running on my laptop using Hugo. Now I need to decide whether to really jump ship and replace the live wordpress version 😱😅

@elmine I've been trying to set something up for a situation like that... work in progress to combine Wordpress and a static site

@rolfkleef Very interesting experiment!

@rolfkleef @elmine Hello Rolf! Very interested party here. Is your static site still powered by WordPress or are you using a different cms/system?

I would love to make my WP site static but it's still to technical for me to have faith in een working end result.

@erikvisser @elmine I now really manage my content in Obsidian, WP was just publishing. [See my journey](https://drostan.org/updates/2025/07/digital-gardening/), warning "this is probably not for you" ;-)

Publishing Markdown files is doable if you're willing to endure some technical work, but still far from "crossing the chasm".

We're looking at it as an option for Doaidag, though.

In the Social Web devroom I concluded WP has a lot of fediverse etc out-of-the-box, and is the most comfortable for me to build out that part.

@rolfkleef thanks! The warning is definitely ment for me :)

But I really like the concept of one place to create/manage content and "declassify" some to my public static site.

Tried Obsidian too (so many people are happy with it) but I couldn't make it as friction-less as I need to really use it consistently.

So here I am still using all kinds of apps to solidify stuff and copy pasting and transforming it. All time consuming barriers keeping it from reaching the publishing stage.
