Day 3 of Coco and me sizing up each other. Other than going outside every 3 hours or so to check on whatโ€™s going on, this is pretty much been her position the entire time. Thatโ€™s OK though. Itโ€™s been pretty much my position, too. ๐Ÿ˜…
@j258853 sheโ€™s so sweet! I donโ€™t know if youโ€™ve adopted before but my experience is that it takes them a long time to to really settle in but 100% friend for life. Congrats now that sheโ€™s home!
@lawyersgunsnmoney Thanks, DB. Yeah, Iโ€™ve always adopted. Weโ€™ll see how it goes. So far, sheโ€™s great. Although, the foster care guy said she liked to chase balls and, so far, sheโ€™ll chase them some but she wonโ€™t bring them back! ๐Ÿคช
@j258853 Thatโ€™s wonderful. Iโ€™m sure she will continue to adapt quickly ๐Ÿ‘

@j258853

Awwww, Coco! ๐Ÿ’œ

I can't remember where I saw it, but there's a saying about giving the new pupper 3 days, 3 weeks and 3 months to realize they're home. I'm sure you've seen it before JJ.

@Lorraine I havenโ€™t seen that but I know rehoming can take a while. Thanks, Lorraine.

@j258853

Found it

3 Days to decompress and feel safe (often hiding or not eating), 3 Weeks to learn the routine and show their true personality, and 3 Months to build trust, feel secure, and fully integrate into the family.

@j258853

Awww JJ, sheโ€™s a cutie! ๐Ÿ’–
Now did she go up on the couch or did you put her there? ๐Ÿ˜‰

@RachelA She goes up there herself. The first night just after I got in bed she jumped up on top of me but, I gave a commanding NO to that and pushed her off. She has a dog bed by my bed, but she came downstairs and spent the night in the same place she is in the photo.
