X Over Zero
Many of our Ukraine trip posts have been mysteriously disappearing from the Pixelfed main feed moments after we posted them. We've reached out to @admin @pixelfed @dansup for clarification on why this was happening but never heard back. So if you like seeing the posts from our trip, consider sharing them. Otherwise, it seems most people just aren't going to see them on this platform and then, what would be the point of posting here anymore?

@admin @pixelfed @dansup ...if we can't get an explanation for why this is happening we're afraid it will have to be the end of the road for us on this platform. 😿

@Xover0 @admin @PixelFed @dansup hope this is not the same, but the creator of mastodon was used to make shady things of this sort, and when asked he used to block people. Welcome to the fediverse the land of freedom 😅

whoa! that's such a bummer. Maybe platform creators all turn to Zuck at some point. We hope not. We had a lot of respect for this platform and its creator and we'd be crushed to loose that.

@Xover0 fingers crossed 🤞 never heard anything negative of this sort about pixelfed. Hope it will turn out to be just a technical issue – pixelfed had problems of this sort when I tried it for the last time a couple of years ago. Probably best to give the admin a bit of time to respond.

I’m still seeing them in my feed, both in the Tapestry iOS app and on the web. I only use the Pixelfed app to post and not to view. Maybe the bug is with that? I don’t think I’ve missed any of your posts from your Ukraine trip (or before).

Are you seeing them in your home feed or in the main feed? For us they are only disappearing from the main feed.

On the desktop version of PF it's called the Local Feed. On the mobile app it's called the Public Feed. Not sure why there are two different names for the same thing? But we're not referring to the "Global Feed" that incorporates all of Mastodon - we have no idea what happens there. : )

@Xover0 , "Local Feed," got it. Yeah, it's takes a while to scroll back a day, 24 hours. I'll keep my eyes peeled next time you post something on Ukraine. Make it juicy!

But would our two "local feeds" be the same-ish?

We *think* local feed means Pixelfed feed as opposed to the global fediverse feed. Perhaps it's specific to the Pixelfed instance you're hosted on but we hadn't thought that was the case. We're just on the main default instance of Pixelfed anyway. So if you're also on the main instance of Pixelfed we guess that means your local feed should look the same as ours. And quite possible the local feed looks the same for everyone on Pixelfed. But these are just our assumptions.

I use a desktop application, and a photo icon appears to the right of the comment input field. But I can only add photos to comments on posts. I can not add a photo to a comment on a comment, like to this comment one here.

It's only an issue on the Public Feed (mobile) or the Local Feed (desktop). They still appear on our grid and in the Home Feed. : )
