Based on the suggestions in Dan's comments I tried ion, which I forget why I bounced from, then native OnePlus launcher, which had unremovable Google news screen instead of cycling screens

Now on Lawnchair, which seems ok ish

@Oaktag i switched from Nova to Fossify launcher beta. Its quite basic, but it's fast and doesnt have ad tracking.
