@grumpy @bookstodon @WeirdWriter IME, Project Gutenberg’s downloadable ebooks are perfectly fine, and open easily in ereaders or apps

I've found layout and font controls in a bunch of my ereader apps, not always front and center.

I've also found Standard Ebooks "modernizations" that standardized spelling so much that they changed the meaning. And I've volunteered off and on at Distributed Proofreading, where we have long long footnoted discussions about how to accurately represent the original text. Not everything at Project Gutenberg went through D.Proofreading, but much did.
