These moments when you have to unlearn mistakes! 😱

#zines are 'zeens' not 'zu-eens' 🤯 Why the hell did I get this wrong since the 1970s in Germany, when people talked about 'zains'?!? (Modern German: do you say 'siens'?)

Do you know such moments discovering a very old #mistake in #spelling? How do you unlearn persistent errors?

I'll never forget my French "village". A friend corrects me every time and I have to repeat it 10x. Meanwhile I say it correctly. 🤭

@NatureMC I guess I got lucky, since I learned about zines from youtube, so I knew it came from ‚magazine‘ and learned the pronounciation.
But that reminds me that I didn‘t know for a while that ‚lullaby‘ ends with what would be ‚bei‘ in german. I was already writing a poem in my head rhyming ‚lullaby’ to ‚me’ and such.
Had to hear it in a song first to figure that out. That‘s were the IPA really comes in handy. 😆

@NatureMC A lot of younger people that learn about Zines from tiktok pronounce it like it rhymes with 'Vine'.

I assume that many Gen Z aren't very familiar with magazines.

@ubi Oh, so I could stay with my mistake?! Just to pretend to be young! 😂
