Sorry ICE 222, my sweet BR408, i'd've loved taking you to Amsterdam or Utrecht …

But I'll be taking ICE 101, BR412, to Brig today.
Not too bad, either … but not actually going to Brig and instead having a transfer in Mannheim is rather sad

On the very bright side: got a pretty good seat. With nearly ideal window placement, enough space for luggage above, in the quiet zone, … and so far even having a free seat next to mew :3

We'll have to see if there will be significant disappointment from not taking BR408 (or one of the older ICE 3 internationals) between Cologne and Frankfurt …
ICE 4 just doesn't sound quite as good and can't go as fast. But, on the bright side, my seat in a good place for hearing the (electric) train noises, which are still quite enjoyable and soothing

Yipp, disappointment from not going at least 290 km/h on the high speed tracks between KK and FFLF is real. But not as bad as it could be. Was still quite nice.

And today's speciality seems to be consistency:
Continuing onwards on another BR412. On the same platform, just crossing a few metres from ICE 101. Getting into carriage 2 again, and taking seat 138 … again. Also going the same direction from the station and the train not being too crowded :3

So, onwards to Ulm with ICE 591:

Interestingly, we are leaving before the train that brought me here. So i got to see me previous carriage and seat passing by and could wave goodbye at the train
(Which makes this a rather tight connection. But as long as it works, i'm happy not having to wait for long.)

was looking out of the window, wondering why this regional train is moving so slow …

took two minutes to notice, that it is, in fact, still the ICE moving so slow
About 50 to 80 km/h. Let's just hope we gain some more speed soon and this is to blame on somewhat wonky track paths around the Neckar.

At least it is comfier than regional services would be. But i'll transfer to those in Ulm either way.

oh damn it!

the cursed, stinking, loud, BR612 … where you can feel every movement on the inside, all vibrations of the motor, every bit of uneven track

i hate — even utterly despise — this model
and am angry at every region where the infrastructure is bad enough, for this non-electric, stinking, rattling atrocity to be used.
Put some electricity over your train tracks, damn it!

Feels like i'm in Bavaria again, taking RE40 from/to Nuremberg *sigh*

side note: mobile network coverage appears to be equally bad … why am i not surprised by this?
