How is this different from overthinking?

Overthinking is a way to try to assert control in a situation where you cannot entirely decide outcomes, and have anxiety about them. It’s a way to self soothe that can become maladaptive when done in excess, and typically requires mental health support, with internal or external intervention, to break out of.
