Shop-vacs (wet/dry vacuums) have always existed in my lifetime. I hope when they were invented folks were absolutely blown away.

Because Iโ€™m still amazed by them as a middle aged fella who has had the same one for ~25 years.

@JimHindsKC oh, thatโ€™s very well done. The comments are interesting as well

@User47 I own four of them. A giant one, a small 18v battery powered one, and two in between.

When my house vacuum died after 20+ years, I just brought up one of my shop vacs. Heck, do you know what house vacuum costs?

@mlanger I donโ€™t. But this place had one at one point. I love our Miele

@User47 I had a Kenmore for 20+ years. I guess I should be satisfied with that, but I'm a firm believer that if you don't abuse your appliances, they should last forever.

I have a Roomba in each of my home's two rooms and they do about 90% of the vacuuming. I just take out the shop vac to get around the edges and clean up dry spills. I have a vacuum cleaner bag in it. Works fine; I can't see any reason to spend $800 on a replacement designed for homes and carpeting I don't have.
