you would not believe the kinds of trans discourse going on over on instagram btw. like they're really cooking (derogatory, the kitchen is full of smoke). if it makes you upset or mad, even if you don't interact, the algorithm demons Find Out by like examining your eye movements or whatever and show you more

but a friend put me onto a technique: if you see it simply close instagram for at least ten minutes. after that they will never show you that shit again, AND you closed instagram so it's a win-win

it's pissing me off so badly that they managed to get me on there but organizing in my city happens basically *nowhere* else. I finally broke down when instagram was the only place I could find information from the fucking city council

@rabbit this really bugs me too!! I don't understand why I can only find event or protest info on insta of all places... I end up only learning about what's going on through word of mouth and probably miss out on a bunch bc I don't want to use it

@laceflower yes!! like word of mouth got me pretty far (and continues to do so for some types of things) but everything from food distros to local protests to DIY spaces seem to update there first and elsewhere late if ever. and it’s a self-perpetuating problem, because all of these people are doing that because they know that’s where the other organizers are 😭
