@breaque When I spotted the cirque record sleeve I assumed it was going to be “Swerve” which I'm sure is somewhere on the shelves, but I'd totally forgotten about “You & Me”.
Sphere's “Gravity" is an absolute prog house classic and, as the sleeve says, appeared on Digweed's Hong Kong Global Underground (the best GU imo 😊 ) & Nick Warren's Budapest GU - a real joy to dust off after all these years 😊 This particular release is actually the US one, despite being bought for 8 quid in the UK.

@breaque First up this week, Slyder’s “What Happens”. I have no real recollection of this, but it's pretty good - particularly the full vocal mix. The club mix is more house than progressive, tho I'm not sure I would describe either as progressive trance :) According to the price label, I bought it from Satellite Records (one of the few places in the US selling over the internet back then) for $5.99.
My heart skipped a beat when I grabbed the next one from the shelf: Slacker’s classic “Your Face” - one of my all time fave tracks. Released in 1997, it was a caned by most of the DJs I loved (still love) at the time. I could swear I had this vinyl in the late '90s, but the price sticker says I got it from Spundae Records (in Haight, SF) for $10.99... which would put my purchase around 2001 I think. Maybe I have the CD single somewhere…

First up, “Hypnotize You” by Grayson Shipley (2000). I put the Chris Cowie remix on and by the end I was totally baffled - what was I thinking in buying this.. an oddly poor track for him.. I then realised to my shame that I’d made the schoolboy error of assuming it was 45rpm, when it was actually a 33. Re-listening to the first side made a lot more sense.. tho a pretty middling release. (Spundae $10.99)
I was more hopeful for the second: King Unique's remixes of “Moody” by Sessomato (2001).. no doubt I was inclined to pick this up because I've always loved King Unique's work. The Dark Dub on the flipside is decent. (Spundae $10.99)
I wonder if I bought them on the same day. There was always a feeling of disappointment/awkwardness when faced with walking out of a store without anything to show for it, especially when handed a pile of recs by the person behind the counter.

"Additive 4 Sampler” (2001) was the first off the shelf today, which has 2 tracks: “Janerio (Subtech Remix)” by Solid Sessions and Simon's “Free At Last (Bushwacka! Remix)”. I rather liked this one - nice tech/deep-ish house. another $10.99 purchase from Spundae in the Haight.
And what I'm sure is the first of quite a few psy-trance records that I will barely remember: “Money Comes Cheap EP" (1998) by Slinky Wizard. I have a feeling this was purchased from a little psy-trance themed store right at the Golden Gate Park end of Haight, across from Amoeba. Not something I would purchase these days, but I do have fond memories of Slinky Wizard while living in the UK in the late 90s.

@breaque Pleasantly surprised by this week's two random picks off the shelves. I had no memory of either, but definitely both fit in with where I was at at the time - both quite proggy trance.. or trancey prog…
The first was Quest's “My World / Accelerator” (2000) released on the classic aussie label Vicious Vinyl. Quest is an alias for Luke Chable - I have no idea if I knew his name back then, but he's been a fave producer of mine over the years (his incredible remix of Sasha’s "Cloud Cuckoo” comes to mind). Purchased Spundae once again.

And the second “Shimmer" by Cliff Tangredi (2000).. I honestly don't recall Tangredi's name at all (his only proper release by the looks of it), but it's good. According to the price tag I bought this in the UK for 8 quid.. no idea why, and the timing (2000) suggests I may have picked it up when visiting London.

@breaque A combination of travel, illness, flaking pads on my MDR-7506 headphones* and, well, laziness means this is the first time I've returned to my shelves since mid-March 🙀
"Pray To Jeruzalem” (1999) by Travel. No real recollection of this, but Side A (Euphoriah Remix) is nice and techy, while the Original and Incisions Remix on Side B are decent trance tracks. Purchased for $11.99 at Spundae.
Meanwhile, Satoshi Tomeii's “Up In Flames (Part 1)” (1999) is a solid classic of prog house.. Side A's “Bedrock 1" remix is a very Bedrock track (a good thing imo), while David Morales “Morales Master Klub Mix" is, as one would expect, a more traditional house affair.. the "Morales FX" mix is a nice laid back beat-less instrumental, tho rather short. $10.99 from Spundae.

* I bought these in ~1997, used them throughout the years, and seriously, the only issue I've ever had is the flaking pads, and it's easy to get replacements.
@breaque The first of this week's is one of my all time fave remixes: Infusion's unofficial remix of Björk's “Pagan Poetry” (2002). Easily one of my most played records.. I don't recall how on earth I got it. I just remember being blindsided by Infusion - the second record I happened to grab this week is another of their early white label remixes, but I couldn't handle that much emotion in one lunch break so it'll have to wait for next time :)

So the replacement was a very solid prog/tech house release from Coco Da Silva: “Coisa Nossa / Close My Eyes” (2000). Probably would've been my fave pick this week if it wasn’t for Infusion...
