i dropped my Pixel onto hard asphalt this morning and watching the display slowly give up the ghost feels so bad

it's like a terminal disease, its state just gets worse from hour to hour and it can't be helped

good opportunity to replace it with something that isn't Google i guess, with how much they have been pissing me off on the software side. WOULD YOU LIKE TO ENABLE CLOUD BACKUP OF YOUR PHOTOS??????? no-- BUT MAYBE YOU PERHAPS WILL i'm sorry i'll stop shouting now

(ordered a Nothing Phone (3a) as a replacement, also found an absolutely sick looking case for it so i'm really excited for it to arrive at my doorstep)

did you know the Nothing Phone (3a) apparently has eSIM but only in Japan? well guess where ya boi lives now

@riki At least only the screen is broken. The rest of the phone should still be usable. It would be a good backup phone if you're ok with plugging it into a laptop to use it through a screen mirroring program like scrcpy. These screens break in a really weird way, & I think Google Pixels must be bad about it because my screen has broken three times now & I have never broken a screen on any other phone.

@jackemled it is usable,

though the fingerprint reader died in the impact as well, which makes it kind of annoying

and the USB-C port has been insanely flaky for the past few months, which makes connecting it to a computer very fiddly
