If I recall correctly, this guy started working there after he retired from a government job. Just bored and wanted something to do, and he credited it with keeping him active enough to live as long as he did.
Isn’t it sad we have no third spaces for him to engage in and find meaning by helping his community instead of shareholder profits.
It is sad, but it’s also a societal failure. No one should ever have to choose between eating and medicine from week to week.
