I wish I could answer your question with some authority, but I must defer to Scott Wright (@jswright61) who told me that he was looking for a better name. I think that it was meant as a refuge for those who "left wordle" when the rules at the NYTimes changed; but being the obsessive that I am, I just added it to my daily addiction.
