Sigh, #StarfleetAcademy was doing so well at using travel as a compelling narrative device, with lingering shots in shuttles and turbolifts as a way to inform the audience about the feelings of characters and interpersonal dynamics.

But then, as they are almost finishing the season, they fell right back into #JJAbrams-style instantaneous travel to build false drama at the expense of crafting an expansive universe where characters are limited by some fundamental rules of physics and technology.

The remaining system of Transwarp conduits has been built in the franchise since Voyager returned.

They’re hazardous in the 32nd century, but well mapped and had been a key resource to enable trade and communications during The Burn.

I wouldn’t say that they undermine the physics if used judiciously.
