Im watching that little prophets thing everyone else loved...

Hoping it gets better than this.

@InTheseHeels The premise seems weird, but I like the characters.

@seanddotmedotuk I thought it was weird, but lovely. And it had a few moments that really gave my heartstrings a workout.

@InTheseHeels

@shezza_t @InTheseHeels Did you watch Detectorists? It's the same type of thing, but with a saner storyline.

@seanddotmedotuk I did, but only recently. G watched it when it first came out, but it was one of the shows he watched when I wasn’t around. He kindly re-watched it all with me last month.

Again, I thought it was excellent story telling, done gently.

@InTheseHeels

@shezza_t @seanddotmedotuk @InTheseHeels We loved Detectorists, and are starting on on Small Prophets - enjoying it very much. (Love Mackenzie Crook’s timing)

I think they both have a very distinct flavour - understated and yet not _gentle_ nor shying away from big things.

@spoonrefuter Yeah, gentle maybe wasn’t the word I needed.

I got a sense of an ease with storytelling, and an absence of punching down on characters. Both of which I liked very much.

@seanddotmedotuk @InTheseHeels

@shezza_t @seanddotmedotuk @InTheseHeels well, it is gentle in one sense, but I think that sort of belies the bigger things, like relationships and jobs and family and ting

@spoonrefuter Yup.

This is reminding me of Somebody, Somewhere; S3 of which we finished last night.

It took me a while to get into it[1], because superficially there’s irritating people and lots of nervous laughter. But at its heart is a solid lump of friends, family, and Big Life Shit that even managed to reduce me to tears at one point.
