@onpaperwings Whoa. What make and model?
Also: yes, I hear you. I mean, my dad was one of the co-inventors of wifi for cryin’ out loud, but I have tech problems like everybody else.
(Maybe not the *exact* same problems, but equally absurd in their ways. Sigh.)
@scott @tphinney Unlike you folks, I don't need to do high-quality proofing, but I still print a lot of things (and tons of old books and papers) for my Linotype research.
Genuinely never know if it will actually print when I hit "Print" and my wife now refuses to try and just sends me PDFs to print out 🫠
@scott @onpaperwings Doug’s suppositions are correct. I wanted duplexing, color, and tabloid size (up to 12″×18″) so I ended up going with an HP Color LaserJet CP5225DN in December 2023. I have been very happy with its reliability, and with the consumables pricing. But yes, I paid big up front.
Like you both, I previously had a Brother printer (purchased in 2017) and hated it. I had a color one, but still. Ick. Brother HLL8360CDW. I think I gave it away for free to a neighbor who didn’t have a printer, because I didn’t feel comfortable charging any money for it!
@onpaperwings I’m sorry—AND this is one of the funniest things I’ve read. It’s so relatable and true.
AI is coming to destroy us, comma…printers still are bad. How can it be both 😂
