"I don't get the whole dronification thing, but I'm glad it makes other people happy" >Okay but what if you could be an unthinking, unfeeling avatar of revenge? No thoughts, no fears, no doubts, just flawless execution in service of something bigger than yourself? "I think I hauve covid" 😳
I had a #korps -adjacent story I wanted to write about this, but I haven't got the threads to weave together in my head yet. Essentially what starts out sounding like a therapy session turns into an interrogation, revealing the 'patient' to be a cop being reawakened after long-term droning.
In my mind, dronification can be used as a punishment, effectively turning the prisoner's own mind into their cell. While the body diligently serves its assigned purpose(s), the mind has nothing - not even sensory input - but time to reflect on the circumstances that led them to this.
Never got the bits in the middle to come together in a way I was happy with, but the ending I was steering towards was the cop volunteering to go back under another six months.
