Always surprised to read these glowing reviews, and their focus on weight. Only to notice that my 40 year old steel road bike is only 200gr heavier than the entry level bike (and I could probably get there if I upgrade my cockpit and seat post to carbon). 🤷‍♂️

'It corners like it's on rails' – at £2,400 for the entry-level model and with all the aero you'll need, Merida has knocked it out of the park with the new Reacto

The new Merida Reacto finds itself without a WorldTour team for 2026, but at these prices, it doesn't matter

@koen_hufkens I want my 🇳🇱 bike again. Tall frame, baggage rack, jas beschermers (back wheel covers), full fenders, completely enclosed chain, gears in the hub (I lived in Arnhem so a three speed was good for climbing the local mountains) and not a seat but a zadel.

I think a lot more 🇨🇦 would bike around if we could get bikes that weren't pretending to be racing or mountain bikes.

Maybe wide tires for winter here.

Sadly, even the 🇳🇱 guy who owns one of our local shops can't get me a Gazelle C7 for less than 3x the 🇪🇺 price.

@koen_hufkens And years ago people did not care about the weight of their bicycles, but how far they could go thanks to their strong will and well trained muscles.
