The New York Times is doing a posthumous review of Kristi Noel’s unhinged and incompetent job in federal government.
But anyone who followed her governorship could have seen this coming a long time ago. She’s always been a corrupt and incompetent government official.

She always styled herself as a Christian, pro-family politician. But she couldn’t answer a simple question, “Have you had sex with someone that is currently not your husband?”
Why couldn’t she answer it? Because she was under oath and she knew perjury charges would follow if she lied.

While governor, no offense was too small for Noem to chase. There was this one time where Noem bullied a high school student for posting a picture online that wasn’t to Noem’s liking.
In 2024, Noem started making unfounded accusations that cartels were operating on South Dakota tribal lands. The result? They banned her from setting foot on their property.
When all was said and done, Noem was banned from 20% of the state’s lands.
The voters of South Dakota voted to amend their constitution to legalize marijuana. Noem - who, again claimed she is about elections and family - led the successful charge to overturn the mandate. The case was brought by her appointee and decided by her appointee.
Then there was the time that her daughter flunked the real estate license exam, so her mother stepped in.
The result? Her daughter got the license and the head of the department that issues licenses “retired”.
Far from being a public servant, Kristi Noem seemed to think the voters of South Dakota should pay for her travel and security while she campaigned to get a job in the Trump administration.
We have the taxpayers of South Dakota to thank for her less than stellar job at the Department of Homeland Security.

Jason killed a pedestrian in his car, then reported it a day later. Yes, he was impeached. But not before the Republicans held a spirited debate on whether he should stay or go. The vote was *NOT* unanimous.
This is the type of government in South Dakota.

Alex Plechash, chairman of the Minnesota Republican Party, said he hoped Ms. Noem’s firing would “move the conversation away from personalities and back to the policies that matter.”
I wonder if Republicans would be so concerned about "personalities" if the government shot someone else. This is where we are at right now: no empathy or thought to Renee Good or Alex Pretti or the mismanaged funds or the incompetence or the corruption.
