Never thought I'd say this, but... 💀🪦

#PhpStorm is dead. #JetBrains just doesn't know it yet.

They're playing catch-up with #AI Assistant while the competition already rewrote the playbook. The gap is only getting wider. 📉

RIP to the #IDE that defined a generation of #PHP developers 🕯️

#coding #DevOps #developer #programming #webdev

@michabbb this post seems like a LinkedIn one. AI and drama hahaha
@codeDude no drama, just my personal way of saying "bye bye" - drama only gets created by Dinosaurs who are unwilling to accept the new world we live in....
@michabbb More drama hahahaha Your post and comment would be welcome in LinkedIn I swear
@codeDude actually, I also posted in on LinkedIn, but haven't checked any comments there, but I give a shit, I know the truth, if others are unwilling to accept it, it's their problem..... There is a kind of developer that is dying out right now, that's probably all the crybabies who comment "such nonsense" 😂
@michabbb Each time you post something more the drama increase hahaha
@codeDude Do not make such a big drama out of it, you old drama queen!
😉
@michabbb Now we change the LinkedIn-like post to X-like post.
@michabbb Long live IDEs that don't shove AI bullshit down your throat! Jetbrains works well and are massive supporters of the PHP ecosystem. I'll stick with them over Microsoft and it's insistence on social and environmental destruction on the alter of Grand Theft Autocomplete, thank you.
@Crell
License is a huge cost for me outside my company tho

@killua99 @Crell Either you earn money with it or you use it for OSS contributions. In the former.case: Pay the license fee. In the later case: Apply for an OSS grant*. Or go to a usergroup. They often raffle free licenses. Or go with the EaelyAccess program. So many options 🤯

Licenses for Open Source Development

JetBrains supports development of non-commercial open-source projects by providing core project contributors with a set of best-in-class developer tools.

JetBrains
@heiglandreas I tried once the OSS, since I do maintain Drupal modules, then you need to be a rock star to receive it. Pay a license for little side projects is too much, and using the company license is not an option either. So, VS Code or Sublime (I do prefer Sublime)
@Crell phpstorm is for people who write their own code, people who still write code are also dead and - as always - are unwilling to accept that as well... Enjoy it as long you can 💪
@michabbb @Crell That's nonsense, and you should know it. The hype phase is still going strong, but it won't be long before all the Viber folks realise they've lost control of their code and their product.
@tobiaskoengeter @Crell my posting is a magnet for people who have no clue at all what's going on and refuse to accept the new world, it's natural. You learned your whole life something, and now everybody is able to do it better, that hurts, I get it...

@michabbb @tobiaskoengeter Please don't insult my intelligence, and I won't insult your moral failings.

The efficacy of LLMs (or lack thereof) is not the main reason I try to avoid them.

@Crell @tobiaskoengeter there is always this one guy..... love it.....
@michabbb @tobiaskoengeter And there's always sycophants ready to ignore all negative externalities because some techbro told them to. I hate it.
@Crell @tobiaskoengeter enjoy your weekend, relax....
@michabbb @Crell If there is a lot of oncoming traffic, you may be the wrong-way driver yourself. ;-)
