Which one reads better to you?
I'm designing icons for the Noss Saga clades, and I need one for the musteloids (which includes skunks, red pandas, raccoons, coatis, weasels, otters, badgers, wolverines).
RULE: no negative shapes inside the silhouette (no raccoon mask/eyes/stripes).
Fine, it's very clear you all like the D. Badger it is (even though a few read that as a marten, but it serves its purpose). I'll do some tweaks and make a perfect vector version to match all the other clades. Thank you all for your notes!
@joabaldwin heck yeah badger 🥳
@joabaldwin I think D works better; has that "weasel" silhouette.
@joabaldwin
E seems unmistakably like an otter to us, so we'd get the idea pretty quick. The only possible drawback would be it being too specific.
@joabaldwin I vote for E. They all read as musteloidea, but E is the one I think has the hardest time reading as anything _else_. Like, I could imagine someone seeing A as a fox or F as a rat, but not E.
@joabaldwin F and B are my favorites, in that order
@joabaldwin D or E works best for me, maybe B as well.
@joabaldwin D and E read most mustelid to me.
@joabaldwin D is most clear. The top ones could get confused with an arctic fox at least.

@joabaldwin D has that pointed face and little cookie ears

I'm VERY excited about musteloid representation!
