For those looking forward to asteroid 2024 YR4 crashing into the moon on Dec. 22 2032, the NASA JWST brings disappointing news. Recent observations predict 2024 YR4 missing the moon altogether at a safe distance of 21,200 km, on the far side of the moon.

Previous analyses had estimated a 4.3% chance of lunar impact. Now it is almost zero.
