Half the finns donāt even use āhƤnā. In day to day conversations itās frequently replace with āseā which is basically āitā, making no difference between living things and inanimate objects. That is not considered impolite or anything like that. Itās more a dialect thing.
I know Iām biased, being a native Finnish speaker and all, but I think itās kinda delightful that (at least colloquially) we donāt even bother with separating pronouns by animacy.
While speakers of Indo-European languages get so worked up over having a pronoun just for them, weāre like ālol everyone and everything is āitā, problem solved, time for beerā
As a native finn I agree. So much noise and so many impractical solutions for something that we have for all intents and purposes solved millenia ago.
At least you can come pretty close with han. Would be nice if they gave you the umlaut you want
