I just can't take anyone who says "you can replace telemetry with feedback from early power users" seriously because the point is that telemetry gets you data about what the majority of your users are doing, and power users are famously and repeatedly wrong and how the majority of people use software

Arguing for no telemetry on privacy principles or that the majority should not be catered to are sensible positions, but "why don't you just listen to me??" Is nonsensical

@Osmose self reporting almost anything is stupid as hell compared to observing what actually happens, and invasive shit companies have ruined the reputation of actually useful telemetry in the eyes of far too many imo
