Here's one thing I don't quite understand about the MacBook Neo's USB ports.

So the A18 SoC apparently only supports a single USB 3.0 port (makes sense, iOS devices it was initially designed for only ever have one), and some 2.0 ports for internal devices and/or things like iPad keyboard cases.

But, why couldn't they instead use a 3.0 hub chip to make two 3.0 ports that share bandwidth? Surely that would've been better? Or is there something about USB that prevents this that I don't know?

@grishka Wouldn’t that make Neo the first apple silicon Mac to not be able to use all the available ports at once at their advertised speeds? “This port is better” seems much less confusing to explain to users than “The internal usb hub can’t run both ports at full bandwidth simultaneously”
