tangentially why is so much android stuff over telegram rather than something normal like IRC or even discord*

@LottieVixen the communications for any custom ROM stuff will be telegram ahead of anything else
@LottieVixen think lineage has an IRC channel but it's the exception

@izzy yeah telegram web and desktop exists and alternative clients
as for discord v telegram.. I honestly don't remember what had worse search. since I'm no longer on telegram, but multi chat search I believe existed which was amazingly useful personally
a return to IRC would be nice though

@izzy @LottieVixen like it got to the point where I knew if someone in my contacts popped up on Telegram I'd have to check in with them and people around them to make sure they weren't being actively scammed
thebestnom@izzy because android is more popular outside of the US and telegram is also popular outside of the US and allow channels (Whatsapp just doesn't play nice with those kind of groups)

mateusz6768I have seen though some custom roms only on specific Russian (4PDA) forums that don't else where, unfortunately this means to download some of them i would have to acquire a friend from Russia to basically act as a bridge to create the account since there are CAPTCHA's that are in Russian which i don't understand

Much of the time, "keep it simple" is the way to go. IRC's "old" but it gets the job done without drama (which for IRC, being a source of drama, is saying a lot ;o)
