@bytex64 The only thing I'm ignoring is silkscreen overlap.
I even made custom footprints for more compact courtyards.
I don't think the person who made the KiCad footprint for 4164 DRAMs has ever seen a retro computer.
@gloriouscow It would just be a generic DIP-16 footprint, yeah? Not surprised it wasn’t fit for purpose.
I’ll overlap footprints intentionally for insane things like putting a type-C footprint inside a type-A footprint or an 0805 inside DIN0207, so I do a lot of ignoring. 😅
@bytex64 right yeah i'm whining specifically about the "Socket" footprint i guess. the way the courtyard extends to protect the precious, precious silkscreen means you cannot actually pack these as close as actual sockets can be packed.
I'm sure there's probably a good reason for it and I'm just a whiny whinerson
