US Senator attacks anti-war Marine, breaking his hand - Lemmy.zip

It is actually his arm, title from the source

That’ll teach me to click a video link just because it says nsfw…
To be fair, this video really isn’t safe for work. Most employers frown on watching videos of marines getting their hands broken. That’s usually frowned upon. So fair play to the label I suppose.

Really was more for a content warning than anything. I was instructed to NSFW the video Alex Pretti as well by the mods.

NSFL or a gore warning is a more accurate description, but NSFW is the only tag available.

Personally I don’t think the video is all that bad, but didn’t want to run afoul of the mods/rules

Talk about pain tolerance though… dude didn’t even wince.

I find it funnier .world is allowing this🔗

This is exactly how bipartisan Nazism works folks.
They will rather break your arms than cease their deathcamps, and their profits.

Too bad I have given up hope for fash🇺🇲.
Folks just letting the antiwar vet get his arm broken for peace, and not guillotining the Senate up there.

Why do you think .world shouldn’t, or wouldn’t, allow it? It’s an important, if graphic, event
Because they’ve banned for less.
'No One Should Have a Copyright on Vance Being Booed': Video From Olympics Blocked on X - Abolish Capital!

[https://www.commondreams.org/media-library/us-vice-president-jd-vance-and-his-wife-usha-vance-watch-the-opening-ceremony.jpg?id=63935603&width=1200&height=400&coordinates=0%2C512%2C0%2C1155] US Vice President JD Vance was booed at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Italy on Friday, but at least one widely shared video of it was swiftly scrubbed from X, the social media platform controlled by former Trump administration adviser Elon Musk. Acyn Torabi, or @Acyn, “is an industrialized viral-video machine,” the Washington Post explained [https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2025/04/19/acyn-torabi-liberal-viral-video-clips/] last year, “grabbing the most eye-catching moments from press conferences and TV news panels, packaging them within seconds into quick highlights, and pushing them to his million followers across X and Bluesky dozens of times a day.” In this case, Torabi, who’s now senior digital editor at MeidasTouch, reshared [https://x.com/Acyn/status/2019883011089793511] a video [https://x.com/mickeysplasht/status/2019882409437827474] of the vice president and his wife, Usha Vance, being booed that was initially posted by filmmaker Mick Gzowski. However, the video was shortly taken down and replaced with the text, “This media has been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner.” Noting the development, Torabi, said [https://x.com/Acyn/status/2019897041359655374]: “No one should have a copyright on Vance being booed. It belongs to the world.” As of press time, the footage is still circulating online thanks to other X accounts [https://x.com/DemocraticWins/status/2019884112438313419] and across other platforms—including a video shared on Bluesky by MeidasTouch editor in chief Ron Filipkowski. > JD Vance loudly booed at the Winter Olympics today. > > [image or embed] [https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:t6ubj2wlhc34awzcymh3qpur/post/3me7tq7uz5c2n?ref_src=embed] > — Ron Filipkowski (@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social [https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:t6ubj2wlhc34awzcymh3qpur?ref_src=embed]) February 6, 2026 at 4:25 PM [https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:t6ubj2wlhc34awzcymh3qpur/post/3me7tq7uz5c2n?ref_src=embed] The Vances’ unfriendly welcome came after a Friday protest [https://www.commondreams.org/news/demonstrators-rally-in-milan-to-say-fck-ice-as-winter-olympics-kick-off] in the streets of Milan over the presence of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents at the Winter Olympics, with some participants waving “FCK ICE” signs. The Trump administration has said the ICE agents—whose agency is under fire for its treatment of people across the United States as part of the president’s mass deportation agenda—are helping to provide security for the vice president and other US delegation members, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio. — From Common Dreams [https://www.commondreams.org/feeds/news.rss] via This RSS Feed [https://www.commondreams.org/feeds/news.rss].

This would be more helpful if we could see the text of the comments leading to their ban.

So far all we see in that linke is someone said something and was banned from the instance. What they said is very important to make a determination

filter by day: in 26 days, you get my removal of my comments, & [email protected] got to equate MAGA for commies.
Are you fucking stupid?
It would be nice without the graphic block in the middle of the video informing me of what I am not seeing because it’s blocking my view.
Fuck shorts
Seriously. They are actively harming society.

Those kids are pathetic.
Breaking his arm, that’s the sound of a long bone breaking not a hand.

Sen. Tim Sheehy is a traitor to our nation.

He is not law enforcement. He assaulted a marine. The marine should sue.

McGinnis reportedly sustained a broken arm during the altercation, not a broken hand. He now faces three counts of assaulting a police officer and three counts of resisting arrest and crowding, obstructing, and incommoding in an unlawful demonstration.

Ex-Marine, Senate Candidate Speaks Out After Arrest, Arm Broken During Iran War Protest in Senate

A Marine Corps veteran suffered a broken arm last week after he disrupted a Senate hearing to voice his opposition to the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran. Democracy Now! speaks with the veteran, Brian McGinnis, who is also a Green Party candidate for Senate in North Carolina. McGinnis is critical of U.S. policy in Israel and the Trump administration’s decision to go “full speed ahead with military action” in the Middle East. McGinnis is charged with three counts of assault on police officers and resisting arrest, according to Sellano Simmons, an attorney representing McGinnis.
