Next week, I'm having an esophageal manometry and 24 hour pH impedance test to see what issues are going on above my stomach.

Has anyone done the latter? My mom did and relayed that it was very uncomfortable and painful, but she is prone to exaggeration. I'd appreciate any additional experiences so that I am not fearing something that isn't a big deal.

Will, I'm not certain of the terminology, but I think that is the procedure I had in 2010 before I had hiatal hernia surgery.

As an outpatient in the doc's office, they run a very thin tube through your nose and down your throat to measure acid. It wasn't painful at all, just uncomfortable, especially the insertion/removal. You wear a tiny recording device while it's in place.

Here's a photo of me with it in place. DM if questions.

Not even *that* uncomfortable, it's just unfamiliar to feel something way in the back of your throat.
