Colorado governor likely to grant clemency to election denier Tina Peters, lawyer says

Lawyer for Peters says he expects Jared Polis to commute nine-year sentence over voting breach in 2020 election

The Guardian

@theguardian_us_news I wrote Polis a letter. Here is what I said if anyone wants to riff on it in their own letter:

Governor Polis,

As a resident of Colorado, I am ashamed and astounded at your recent vocalization of support of clemency for Tina Peters. My understanding of the situation is this; she violated the trust of voters like me. I was raised to believe in a democratic republic which most of us enjoy, and Tina's actions and blatant disregard for this Republic undermines the very thing that I cherish. Trust. Trust in the American dream, and Liberty and Justice for all.

Please reconsider, and let Tina be an example of Justice and Rule of Law and Order that we so desperately need right now as a nation. As Americans, if we desire continuity of our country, I believe this is crucial and absolutely necessary.

Our nation runs on faith and trust in the integrity of our voting system. Please protect it from future transgressions by not bowing down to power. I know you are leaving office soon regardless of this decision, but for what it is worth, I think you have done an outstanding job as Governor of the great State of Colorado. You saw us through the pandemic and many other crisis...please do not sully your record with this decision.

Just because the President wants a thing to happen, doesn't make it the right thing to do. He is enjoying far more power than any other Executive of our country. Please do your part to say no to the toddler in chief.

Thank you for taking time to read this, sir.
