8GB of RAM, 2/4 core CPU, no thunderbolt, nerfed display out, 256GB of storage, nerfed LCD. I mean the price is great but damn feels like a few too many corners were cut.

@paul The item that stands out to me is the ram. 8GB wasn’t enough 6 years ago. Can people make it work? Yes, but not well. I might give it a pass at 12GB, compromises can be made, but 16GB should be the minimum.

Everything else is reasonable compromises for a Chromebook competitor that runs macOS.

@Roses4Cardinals I have used a M1 Mac mini with 8GB RAM. It’s fine.
@prsn I have one as well and use it as an alternative to a RPi. It’s fine in that it works. It should have had 16GB. 8GB limits its usability and performance as it has to swap stuff in and out. macOS has gotten much more complicated and memory hungry since 2020 as well

@Roses4Cardinals Swapping is fine.

If you want more RAM, you go ahead and pay for it.

This is a 600$ Macbook.
