Prove me you're a nerd with one sentence!
@doggo if you check a specific GDB commit, you can see the slowly decaying state of my sanity as I try to docment all the way sin which the intel programmer's manual is incorrect about the encoding of the vmovd and vmovq instructions
@gwenthefops you proved intel wrong?  is your code still used in gdb nowadays?
@doggo .... ya kidding? it was last year! of course it is still used

(I also maintain that area of the code
but that is less "nerd" and more "job")
@[email protected] last week I had five days off and I spent most of that time learning Scheme
@brettm how did it go? did you made a cool project learning it?
@[email protected] i am going to write a fediverse server, only making little bits now and then when i'm in the mood, so it may take a couple of years πŸ™‚

so far it just takes the posts (which get sent in json-ld format), and splits out the contents to time sent, sender, post content, etc. also does not work yet with some posts, eg from iceshrimp, or posts sent in compressed binary format. next maybe i will save the posts to sqlite database. later fix the ones which don't work.

@brettm ah I understands, manyyy years ago I also started a project which lasted for years with many rewrites...

that's cool tho, even if it takes years :)

@doggo My main personal project is developing a programming language called #Kittyscript.
@LunaDragofelis waa  what does it do? will you bootstrap it? (if not already)
@doggo it's supposed to become the swiss army knife of programming, with a Lisp-like model that can be transformed and annotated arbitrarily at compile time using all the features available at run time
@LunaDragofelis something that can do web, scripting, maybe apps, etc ?
@doggo everything from scripting, plugins, apps, web to systems programming.
@doggo setuid, setgid and special executable capabilities are gross hacks that add a lot of special cases to everything, and we should remove them from our operating systems
@SRAZKVT don't you need to impersonate users in some cases? you can't really set everyone root

@doggo i can use runuser for that, i just need to be root for it. and for that, all that's needed is to have something that starts a command as root, not specifically setuid, an existing root process for that effect can very much do it

so setuid is very much not a necessity

@doggo oh that might lead to confusion, by setuid i mean the setuid permission on files which automatically starts an executable with the permissions of the owner rather than the runner, not the setuid function

@doggo The Atari ST is the birthplace for Cubase, which would later be ported to Windows and be used by ZUN to produce his signature music for Touhou 6 onwards.

If it wasn't for Atari, we wouldn't have the ZUNpets on Touhou.

@katakislives maybe we would still have a similar but different soundtracks?
@doggo Yeah but it's hard to believe it'd be as iconic
