in this article I find only points I have heard before. but the real reason they are working longer hours is because their managers make them.

The benefits of the 40 hour work week, hard fought about a hundred years ago, have been forgotten.

@mrose That might be true usually in the USA context, for what I hear from friends here in Peru, is that junior devs tend to use AI and produce bad code, then someone else has to spend more time fixing that. Granted these are small dev shops and academic teams. There are strong legal worker protections here, in most companies and universities.
