@clonezone Unpopular opinion: as an instance administrator I actually agree (minus the overreaction):
1. As a user I overthink what the other side want in that response. There's also fear of rejection.
2. Beyond following rules, I don't see any way to distinguish whether a user's intention is valid or not (not to mention they can lie), especially as a general service provider.
For as long as I can keep eyes on them, my instances are open registration, but ultimately we need automated tooling.
