maybe I'm paranoid but I do find it interesting that law enforcement seems to dislike e2ee everywhere except Signal. .. did they tetra4 it?

@anthropy It’s one of the most scrutinized open-source codebases in the world, but… I’m concerned about their distribution channels like the App Store and Google Play - I’m sure those won’t mind sneaking a backdoor in.

That or they’re just clueless - very possible

@warren wouldn't be the first time they had weird analytics in their app that collect more than it should, though that was quite a few years ago. I also find it suspicious that they don't want you or e.g fdroid to compile the app

.. but at least there are alternative clients so idk. it's just a weird gut feeling honestly, I don't actually expect it to be bad, but, I guess I wouldn't be surprised, either.
